Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. This page explains what we collect and how we use it when you visit our website or request a service.

Inherited Innovation LLC ("Inherited Innovation," "we," "our," or "us") operates this website and provides general contracting services. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected on our website, through our intake forms, when you request a quote, when you contact us, and when you receive services from our own team or from a subcontractor we engage.
Information We Collect
Information you give us directly includes contact details (name, email, phone, mailing or service address), property and service details (property type, service category, scope notes), account details when you create one (username, hashed password, preferences), payment information (handled directly by Stripe Inc.; we do not store full card numbers; we may store last-4 digits and billing zip), and application data if you apply to work with us as a subcontractor (business name, EIN, insurance certificate, W-9, references).
We also collect information automatically: device and browser type, IP address, language preference, pages viewed, links clicked, session duration, and referring URL. We may receive information from Stripe (payment status and fraud-risk signals), email-service partners (delivery, open, click status), and subcontractors we engage (work completion notes and photos).
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the work you've asked for (quote the job, schedule it, and see it through)
- Process payments, send receipts, and sort out any billing question
- Communicate with you about service updates, scheduling, customer support, and account notices
- Send opt-in marketing communications you've consented to
- Screen and onboard subcontractors we engage
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website and services
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations (tax reporting, regulatory requests, dispute response)
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information
- We do not use your information for advertising profiling
- We do not share your information with data brokers
- We do not access your communications with other companies you deal with
Who We Share Information With
Where we engage a subcontractor to carry out part of your job, they see only what they need to do it (name, address, scope, contact), and they are under a written agreement requiring confidentiality. We share with Stripe for payment processing, communication providers (email and SMS) for transactional and opt-in messages, hosting and infrastructure providers under contractual confidentiality, and professional advisors (counsel, accountants, insurers) bound by professional confidentiality.
We share with authorities when required by law (subpoena, court order, lawful regulator request) and, in the event of a merger or asset sale, with the successor entity (you'd be notified).
SMS / Text Messaging
We use two separate, opt-in SMS programs and ask for consent to each independently when you provide your mobile number on one of our forms. Neither is a condition of any purchase or service, and you can opt in to one without the other.
Service (transactional) messages: when you check the service-text consent box, we may text you about scheduling, appointment and walkthrough reminders, job and service status, and replies to support questions you have raised. Marketing (promotional) messages: only if you separately check the marketing consent box, we may text you occasional promotions and offers.
For both programs, message frequency varies (typically one to four messages per month), and message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and get help by replying HELP or contacting us at [email protected] or +1 (216) 424-4559. After you opt out you will receive a single confirmation and no further texts in that program unless you opt back in.
Mobile information and phone numbers collected for SMS are not shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your state, you have rights including the right to know what we collect, access a copy of your information, correct inaccuracies, delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements), opt out of the "sale" of personal information (we do not sell), limit use of sensitive personal information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. These apply to residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Virginia (VCDPA), and other state-privacy-law jurisdictions.
To exercise any right, contact us at [email protected]. We respond within 45 days (extendable to 90 with notice if needed). We may need to verify your identity.
For marketing communications: unsubscribe via the link in any email; reply STOP to SMS messages. Transactional messages (receipts, service updates, security notices) cannot be opted out of while you have an active account or pending service.
Data Retention
- Active customer or member account: kept while active and for 7 years after closure for tax and records
- Inactive applicants: 24 months, then deleted unless you opt in to longer retention
- Payment records: 7 years (tax and regulatory)
- Anonymized analytics: indefinitely
Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Cookies and Analytics
We organize cookies and tracking into four categories: Strictly necessary, Functional, Analytics, and Marketing. Strictly necessary and Functional are on by default. Analytics and Marketing are OFF by default, you opt in through our cookie banner on first visit, or via the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer at any time.
When Analytics is enabled: Google Analytics 4 loads with IP anonymization, and Plausible Analytics (no cookies, no personal data) runs alongside it. When Marketing is enabled: Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag may load if we have them configured (currently inactive). See our Cookie Notice for the full per-category disclosure and how to change your choices.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information: encrypted connections (HTTPS), secured database access, principle-of-least-privilege access controls, and vendor due diligence on service providers. No online service is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email (if we have one for you) and posted on this page at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of our services after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
